How can I repair my Sony Discman ESP D-E300AN?

On 26/03/2020, I discovered a broken Sony Discman ESP with the model number D-E300AN. I also found a working Sony Walkman with model number D-EJ750. However, I want to repair the Discman because of it’s labelled “DIGITAL MEGA BASS”.

The problem is that the CD Player has its upper case disconnected from the rest of the body. I noticed that there is 1 potentially disfigured spring and a gap where a spring could be there.

On the upper case, I can also see that the plastic used in the hinge mechanism is potentially broken.

The parts I would need are replacement springs and a new upper shell. I have provided photos. I would also need to see how I can repair the Discman and what parts I need.

UPDATE

I have had a closer inspection of the model and I feel that a replacement of the lid could fix the product. The trouble is I do not know where to find a lid online where I wouldn’t have to face expensive international shipping costs.

For now, I’m just looking for the part.

If, as is very likely, an extensive Google search hasn’t given you the instructions you need then it’s very unlikely you’ll find them I’m afraid. There’s a small chance you might find a service manual, possibly at yandex.ru or baidu.cn which might just help.

If the cases of the two devices are mechanically the same (except for markings) it ought to be possible to swap the electronics but it may be very fiddly, especially reengaging any springs. Also, hard to tell what is meant to snap apart and what is glued or will break if you try. The iFixit Jimmy is invaluable for cracking open the two halves of a shell.

Not what you’re after but here’s a link to a service manual for the player.

It gives a breakdown of the mechanical sections but unfortunately there is only an electrical parts list and not a full mechanical parts list, only a parts list for the optical pick up section.

May be of some help if you have electrical problems with the player.
