Weird headphone jack issue

I’ve got an iPod classic 80gb that I purchased new in 2008. Somewhere around 2010 the headphone jack failed in it due to my own stupidity with my car’s audio system. So i ordered a cheap replacement from China. The problem I have, is that any adjustment below half volume makes zero difference at all. I have verified that audio through the dock connector is identical to my one year newer 120gb model, and with the dock remote I am able to control the volume on them the same. Is this an issue with the cheap Chinese headphone jack? Or does the device need a new main board? I’m pretty sure it needs a board. I have tried a known good headphone jack that is showing that performs the same. I plan to soon try this headphone jack on a different device and will report back. Trying to find a logic board for this thing that isn’t worth its weight in gold is proving difficult.

I have the iPod torn apart buy the logic board and the lcd are still in the metal frame. I don’t see a number on the back side so I’m assuming it is on the front side of the board?

I haven't taken it out of mine yet. I am doing a complete rebuild of my wifes 6 generation classic 160gb thick case. The hard drive quit so I am putting in a dual iflash setup with 2 128gb mini sd cards with a black faceplate and a red turn wheel with a black selector button. New battery, new headphone Jack and a new screen. Also a new chrome case with 256gb etched on the back. It should look really cool and it's only costing me 175 dollars but the whole thing will be brand new except for the board.

I am doing the same to four classics and a mini 2 6th gens. One 6.5 gen and a 3rd gen. The third gen is in good shape so I’m only doing a battery and a flash mod. But my personal original 6th gen is the one with the issue. Which supplier did you find for the boards?

Demigods.com has quite a few rare parts

Yeah, but for what they want for a board I can buy an entire working iPod....

Do you have the logic board number? I have found a supplier that has them you will just need to logic board number.

Update (05/14/2020)

The new logic board is 101 dollars. The good thing is you would know it's a brand new part.
