I’m a bit lost here you stated the drive came out of a PS3 game console and you deleted all of the files so at that point it has nothing on it. Unlike the game console which has its OS within ROM, a PC has the OS on the drive. So with nothing on it, it won’t work in a PC without first formatting it for the OS you are planning on use and then install the OS from another drive which you used to boot up the system from.

So it you are trying to save your files its a bit late as you’ve already deleted them. And even if you haven’t the PS3 drive is not setup in a format the PC could even access directly, you will need some special software and a means to connect the drive as an external to your working Windows system as outlined here: How to Recover Data from PS3 hard drive

There's no way to read the data from a PS3 HDD without either the PS3 it came from or with the EIDroot key to decrypt it as well as PS3 HDD Reader which the gui version is inside this toolkit (https://ps3.brewology.com/downloads/down...) to know how to use the EIDroot key to decrypt the HDD.

@Seth Reign - That shouldn't be needed as the OP is trying to just use the drive in a different system not trying to salvage the data.

Think of it this way... I have a Mac and I want to use the drive in a Windows PC as my Mac died, I don't care about the stuff thats on the drive just want to same some money reusing the drive. What would you do?

If you want to recover the PS3 data from it you need either the PS3 it cam from or the EIDroot key from the PS3 it came from which will require you to jailbreak it as well as the PS3 HDD reader program which can be found in this toolkit (https://ps3.brewology.com/downloads/down...)

If you just want to use it as a secondary storage device for your computer then you just need to plug it into an open sata port and if you don’t have multiple sata ports then you need a sata usb reader like this (https://www.ebay.com/itm/173940824772?ha...)

If you want to upgrade your computer’s primary storage where the OS is installed then you either need to buy an operating system installation disc which is the boot disc your computer will prompt you for or you need to clone your old laptop HDD to the one from your PS3 and then extend the data partition to fill the HDD. I use Parted Magic to clone HDD’s but it isn’t for someone not well experience with linux and terminal commands.
