Warmer (but coldish) fridge - normal freezer - frost builds up
Hello.
I have an Indesit IN-C 3100 G.1 fridge freezer. A few weeks ago (coincidence) the bulb got burned. After replacing it, and a few weeks that have gone by
- The upper half of the fridge started collecting frost (at temp indicator 1.8 of 5)
- When reducing this back to 1.5 (which I had for about 10 years like that) - the ice started melting to the upper half but temperature has gone higher.
- With setting at 1.5/5 temp is about 12C-16C (bottom to top of the fridge) while when at 2 temp only falls to about 10C and ice starts building at the back again.
- Freezer works just fine as it is.
- As of yesterday I defrosted the fridge (the fast way oil and some pots with warm water), and as of today frost at the back starts to build up.
- On this Indesit fridge there are many things I do not recognise. I cannot see the “holes” for air circulation (maybe where the light is behind) and there is a wire that goes somewhere I do not recognise and cannot see at the manual.# Since always - the bottom right of the fridge always collected in the corner a bit of ice that I had to remove every 2 months.
Unfortunately, access is extremely hard thanks to the guys who fit it in this flat - making it almost impossible to have access at the back - as it is free standing on four poles to keep it higher.
ANY type of suggestion would be appreciated on whether I can examine anything or troubleshoot from the front of the fridge before having to move at the back of it. So to rap it round: Freezer is ok - within a period of 5 days frost started to build up (with setting at 2/5) bringing the frost almost touching the shelves - dropping temp to 1.6/5 frost started to melt but butter was ready to spread on bread. Did a defrost - freezer still ok (coil have not started to build up any frost on them - fridge has the same problems. This is on the same day I plugged in. Currently temp is about 10C.
Thanks v much. Not having access to the back does not allow me to follow instructions on the internet.
Update (05/10/2020)
Thank you very much for the reply. It was great seeing s reply from you actually - was gonna reply with this article. I will now attach two pictures:
- The first one is a cut on the seal that I have with bogus methods taped - what I am not sure if how long this hole is there
- As I was looking for holes two days ago I found another on the main metal frame. This seems to exist there for years though - most likely before I moved in. I have sealed that too
- Extra? Would you know exactly what this is on the last photo?
Any good idea on the best possible way to seal? I have used duct tape temporarily. I guess the cheapest and fastest thing to do is to replace the seal and see then before I have to move the fridge which is nearly impossible - I mean if you move that one better replace the whole fridge.
Than you again and super greatly appreciated! All the best I wish you. If you also recommend I will change the seal and come back to all. Thanks.
