Hi,
I've been given this Mac A1465 and just trying to work out whether this is a dead backlight or LCD screen before I attempt replacing the latter? I've put a torch through the apple logo and only see yellow no icons or anything resembling a normal desktop. I will try to connect a display port soon to check it's functioning but wondering if anyone has a clue thanks.

While the backlight circuit is powering the backlight I still think you have deeper issues here! The lack of an image is telling the logic board is also in trouble. I would recommend you inspect the display connector. Follow this guide: MacBook Air 11" Early 2014 Display Assembly Replacement Follow the first three steps then jump down to Step 16
Make a thorough inspection of the logic board for corrosion damage. If you see signs take the board fully out to check the other side.

I have checked the logic board and no signs of any damage at all so I will order a replacement LCD. I also plugged it into an external monitor and the Mac came up absolutely fine without issues.

If this is a picture of your display currently it appears the backlight is working as the white areas is it leaking through. This looks like a screen which has suffered liquid damage!
If you turn off your rooms lights the Apple logo should be glowing as well after turning on.

Thanks Dan the logo does appear in the dark and sorry I forgot to add, the only thing I know about this is she used it in a kitchen and it was steaming, then the laptop abruptly shut off and now displays this.
