Xiaomi Mi 9 Screen Replacement Lines/Faulty Touchscreen

So this phone has been dropped in water. I opened it all up, screen and everything included and let it dry for a month. Tried turning it on and whilst the touchscreen worked (I could feel vibration from entering passcode) the LCD display was completely busted. I ordered a new screen replacement and tried it initially, everything was working amazing when I hadn’t yet put the phone together. I then proceed to put everything together, securing the battery in with double sided tape but apart from that, nothing out of ordinary. Now after powering on the screen has vertical lines through it (See image). Also only the left side of the touch screen works properly. This is completely bizarre to me. Could it be static electricity causing this problem? Any help would be very appreciated and I am more than happy to provide more images.
