Why can't I use 2 new RAM modules together?

Hello, I want to change the RAM of my MacBook, but unless I do it with the combination of: old RAM + new RAM.

But it is not worth much because the old one is 2 GB, not 4 GB, so I would lose 2 GB. Someone to pass him by?

Well, it depends on which model you have!

The 13” MacBook 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo Poly/Uni (Late 09) can only support a max of 8 GB of RAM.

The 13” MacBook 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo (Mid 10) which can support 16 GB of RAM.

You do need to make sure you are using the correct RAM and you don’t damage the logic board socket or clips.

@Juan Torralbo - While the Ali Express posting implies it is, What does the given SO-DIMM's tell you look at the stuck on label as well as look up the RAM chip part number.

Ifs also possible the SO-DIMM is correctly marked but the given module is defective.

Let's check your OS what is the system running? macOS Sierra (10.12.x)
