Why did the touch/digitizer function randomly stop working?

Customer brought in an iPad 6 (A1893)

The digitizer no longer functions at any capacity.

It is a company iPad, so it is in pristine condition.

Factory resetting device hasn’t worked.

I removed the screen- unsurprisingly, an OEM lens.

No signs of liquid exposure internally- again, pristine.

No visible connector obstructions.

I have tried TWO replacement digitizers to no success.

Board issue?

maybe its the touch disease curse of Apple 6th generation products?? /s

Any further insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Steve B,

Hold down the circular Home button and the On/Off (Sleep/Wake) button at the same time for around 10 seconds. This will restart the device and should restore the screen to full working order.

Hope this helps,

Sincerely, Onlaf

thanks for the response Onlaf. attempting the soft reset, you speak of, was something we’ve tried from the beginning. we just received our third screen assembly(from varying vendors, at that) still no success in regards to the digitizer function yet the LCD has functioned fine with each replacement we’ve tried. the flex connectors visibly appear fine. even the solder connection on the board side looks fine. i’m assuming an underlying board issue but just throwing it out to the community to ensure there isn’t another approach i could take in resolving this .

thanks again,

Steve
