Keyboard Key is Unresponsive

The "W" key on my laptop seems to be worn out due to over usage. It is only responsive when I press hard directly on the middle of the key. It does not respond when pressed from the corners or the sides. The rest of my keys on my keyboard respond to side/corner presses. I know this is hardware issue so I already bought a new key but it is still unresponsive when I press the key from the side/corner. I already cleaned out the dirt under the key. I'm thinking it has something to do with the rubber spring/cup but I'm not entirely sure. The rubber spring/cup looks fine so I can’t tell if it’s malfunctioning. Is there a way to remove the rubber spring/cup and replace it on a membrane keyboard?
