Possible to transplant home button?

Have a broken touchscreen/digitizer on an iPad 2 and noticed that all the replacement parts on EBay come without the home button. Is it possible to transplant the home button from the broken touchscreen over to the replacement?

Yes. The home button is just a plastic piece with no real adhesive on the original digitizer. There is also a piece behind it, which has a similar shape as a trapezoid. This has two contacts, one on either end. The home button presses on this piece, which presses the contacts down. Make sure you note the position of the home button (on the back of the digitizer) before removing it.

Edit: Also, be sure to transfer the metal piece at the top of the digitizer where the front-facing camera is.

Neither of these pieces were difficult to remove, and I used a double-sided tape to re-adhere the metal camera piece to the new digitizer.

I am doing the same thing now. Can you elaborate on the metal piece by the font facing camera? Indo not remember seeing that during the removal of the busted glass.

As far as I know, it's only for aligning the front camera with the digitizer. I haven't seen any other use for it, anyhow.

I tried doing this with my home button and found that it was unresponsive on my new screen. Is there a correct way to place it on or is there a cable that connects to the home button???
