Keyboard won’t turn on

I accidentally connected the IPD cable backwards and I saw bit of smoke come from the trackpad.

After that the trackpad no longer worked and every time I booted the computer the trackpad would get really hot. So I figured it’s time to replace it, and so I did and the trackpad worked once again, but the keyboard did not.

I kept playing around with the IPD flex for a bit wiggling it and I finally saw the caps lock powering on but after about a second it turned off. This led me to believe it could probably be a loose cable?

and so my dumbass bought an early 2015 trackpad IPD cable and when I connect it, the computer automatically shuts off, it’s as if it won’t accept it. This is from an A1534 as well so i figured it should work.

My question is, should I even bother buying the CORRECT IPD flex for this to make this keyboard work again or could it be something else and the IPD flex is not the issue? What could possibly make my keyboard just stop working like this. A short? Loose cable? Or maybe I’m looking at the wrong cable, could the keyboard backlight flex be the culprit?
