You can but it will move around. If you are concerned about removing it again you could put a small piece of double sided tape under it so as to stop it moving around.

If I don't tape the battery, and just let it move around, would it cause any issues?

@mylesuy No it will not cause any issues besides the rattling if it is being shaken.
