Canon Internal Mic Problem (Water Issue)

So i have the Canon 4000D and with it’s limited mic capability, the internal mic is really the only mic you have other than using voice memo’s on your phone and syncing the audio up with the video. Around 2 weeks into having this camera it had started to rain pretty heavily and almost instantly some droplets fell into the internal mic holes, when i got home the mic quality was terrible, no sound came through however as the weeks passed, the mic got better and i could actually hear myself, only barely though. In conclusion, will the mic improve if i wait longer? If not, are there any ways i could fix this?
