Weird rattling sound between speaker and charging port

Hello,

Since i’ve droped my MacBook Pro mid-2012, sometimes there is a weird rattling noise between the charging port and the speaker. The noise appears if I don’t use my mac for a couple of hours and use it again. The sound goes off more or less 5 mins after I begin using it. While it is rattling, if I place the mac with the keyboard facing towards me and the screen facing down, the noise stops until I place it back normally.

The sound seems to come from here (image) :

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it please?

Thx !

fYI - your image points to the LVDS connector. A wire bale flips over the end of the board connector to secure the cable connector.

So it is perhaps not cause from the fan’s bearings ? @danj

Unless its not seated properly (the wire rail is not clipped down) which would be very rare to happen. Even still if it was it doesn't have enough mass to bounce around.

Bottom line - 99% of the time it will be the fan!

@danj Okay thank you ! Have a nice day

Other than the drive (which would sound differently) Its most likely your fans bearing is damaged MacBook Pro 13" Unibody and MacBook 13" Unibody Fan and here’s the guide to put it in MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Fan Replacement

You’ll want to get a small soft pain brush and a can of can’ed air to clean the dust buildup internally. Use the brush the scrub the surfaces as well as the heat sink fin area while you have the system open, use the can’ed air with short blasts to push away the debris.

The other side of the logic board near where you ms painted the red line is the speaker it’s probably got a hole in it a cheap job to replace and not worth bodging .
