installed new ifixit battery and showing no charge

Block Image

I installed a new iFixit battery on my MacBook and it is showing as no charge. MagSafe charge is showing orange, but if the unplugged computer shuts down. I have tried all the troubleshooting recommendations with no luck.

Update (02/16/2021)

Thanks, Dan. Sorry for the confusion. I have a real Apple charger. It is the original that came with the Macbook when I purchased it. I guess my question is, this happened right after I installed the new battery. Is there something I could have done in the process to create the problem?

Let’s get a better view of things, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question

Thank you. attached a picture!

Did you practice good ESD protection? Static electricity can damage MOSFET's. Winter time is always tricky! As the humidity within the air can be quite low which can make things worse!

Since I am not really aware of ESD protection, I am going to say probably not. I am guessing that is not a good thing?

True its not good ;-{

Again lets get the basics done first! Did you clean the MagSafe connector on your system make sure the grim is all cleaned out on the plastic and contacts.

CoconutBattery is showing a healthy battery. But the MagSafe adapter/charging logic within the logic board does appear not to be working properly.

Note the Full Charge Capacity is 72% Yet with the Power adapter Connected it is not charging your system! (Charging with 0 Watts).

So let’s start off making sure the MagSafe connector on your system is clean and the pins using a pink pencil eraser. As well as make sure you have a REAL Apple charger as many knockoff units can damage the charging logic!

Only get your charger directly from Apple Apple 60W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (MacBook Pro with 13-inch Retina display) Sadly Amazon and eBay listings are 95% knockoffs! Even when they say OEM! Don’t buy them!! Buy only from Apple authorized dealer!

Here’s some useful write-ups on knockoff chargers!

Also, when the charger is disconnected the computer automatically shuts off. Thoughts? Thank you!

As I stated you have a MagSafe adapter/charging logic within the logic board does appear not to be working properly.

This will require someone with micro soldering skills and access to the needed MOSFET's. But thats after you've cleaned the MagSafe connector contacts and bought a REAL Apple charger.
