White vertical lines after removing glass

Hi all,

I was trying to replace the glass on the lcd of my Apple Watch series 4 44 mm, but when I connected the screen to the watch before adding the new glass I found several white vertical lines on the lcd. I also noticed that one of the cables attached to the patch over the three cables going to the lcd is broken… can this be the issue? I guess they are mass cable? Also there are some scratches on the digitizer but the touch works perfectly. I hope the white lines are not due to the lcd got broken during repairing.

Any tips on how to check whether this is the case?

Hi Stefano,

The cable your torn is just a grounding cable, it’s part of the shielding sticker which goes over the 3 main flex cables. The white lines usually mean the screen is done for. you could try to unplug the screen and plug it back in but I don’t think it would fix the issue. You most likely applied just a tad bit more pressure on the wire you used to separate the glass from the screen or poked it with tweezers and the screen didn’t like it, these screens are about as fragile as a potato chip (crisp if you’re in the UK). Sorry to tell you but you need a new display.
