Why does display have 1/2" band on the left side?

After installing and gluing a new display assembly back in place, the display was working good. I was even able to do some of the 5.0 update settings; after which I left the iPod in sleep/off for a while so the glue would continue to set up. After waiting about an hour for the glue to setup, I turned the iPod back on. The iPod touch 4G screen then came up with a 1/2" vertical purple band down the left side of the display. The remainder of the screen is almost faded/paled out. I did a hard reset and this did not cure the problem. Is this a new display assembly gone bad? Like another submitter, while in the process of installing the screen, the spring/coil to the side of the rear facing camera snagged and became stretched. This did not seem to affect the display right after the screen was glued in place. When trying to troubleshoot the band problem, during the d-lid process, the spring became entangled in glue and was inadvertently pulled out. Does anyone know what the function of the spring/coil is? Is this somehow connected to the display issue? Otherwise, the iPod seems to function OK. Any insight to these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Richard....

Also, I have pictures of the display right after the assembly was glued in place and another picture showing the display an hour later.

You will need a new display. I would also use a non glue adhesive to avoid getting it in places it doesn't belong (the glue).

+ glue is only for something you never have to redo, a screen is bound to break again!
