I am trying to fix my Grampa’s iPhone SE because it has a bad battery and a cracked screen, I tried removing the screen but I got only the screen, not the whole assembly like I expected I’m not sure how to remove the shielding and the plastic parts without damaging them I have tried a suction cup and gentle prying

Removing a cracked screen can be difficult. Here is a helpful iFixit guide to follow:
If some adhesive is being especially annoying, applying a little extra heat can help remove the remainder of the screen assembly.

Screen isn’t shattered just chipped in a corner, had minimal trouble getting it out
