Can I ADD (not replace) an SSD to the existing HDD drive?

I’m looking to ADD a Samsung V-NAND SSD 860 EVO 2TB drive to my iMac. I’ve read it’s possible to keep the existing 1TB APPLE HDD ST1000DM003  HDD. Does this make sense? The HDD drive seems to be in great shape but I wanted to add the SDD drive?

Yes you can add in a second drive!

In this case you really need to use the custom Apple blade SSD which uses a PCIe/NVMe interface not the SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) interface your current HDD drive is using. Its a far amount of work iMac 27" 2017 Blade SSD Replacement and you really need to either use the official Apple SSD or use the OWC 2TB drive kit
