My kid broke one of the door tabs on my ge profile advantium 120 now when the door is shut it turns on as it was cooking once door is open it turns off. Would the missing tab on the door cause this? should i replace the door tab? it normally has a top and bottom tab. I never had issues with this unit ever once the tab was broken this started to happen immediately.

What is the model number of the microwave oven?
Sounds like one of the door interlock switches is not operating/releasing when the door is opened/closed due to the broken actuating lever.
Knowing the model number will help to find the correct replacement part.

Microwave Door Latch Assembly WB10X10021 / AP2020315 (13 bucks online) is what I found I need to replace based on your answer ordered it should be here today will see if this fixes the issue thanks hopefully this will solve this issue
