Why isn’t my PS4 controller working?

When i plug my ps4 controller in it will turn orange, no blinking just orange then nothing i hold down ps button, nothing i unplug and try and it will blink white for a while then stop and the ps4 is on i’ve been troubleshooting and have tried resetting and using a new cable and nothing happens please help
