Could my pixel line problem (TAB ERROR) on iMac 27" get worse?

Good evening you all. I bought an used iMac 5k 27” 2017 and when I booted it up I noticed a vertical line of cyan pixels. At first it was appearing occasionally but then, as I touched the screen near the line, it became kind of permanent.
I read online (especially in this forum) that it probably is a TAB ERROR in which a ribbon connector or something similar is damaged, probably due to a screen opening attempt.

The seller claims he didn’t know about that (lying ofc) but offered me the iMac for half the price (400 €).

Finally, my question is:
The line for 400 € doesn’t bother me, but could the thing get worse? Do you guys have any experience?

Thank you, Raffaello

@danj Sorry you're right. Just uploaded some photos. It's 1 px thin. At first was cyan and now violet.

Likely will stay that way. Without a deeper understanding of the systems history thats the best I can offer.

I believe the Mac was opened, in order to change ssd. It has light shadows on the corner of the screen. Photo uploaded on the question body. Thank you anyway!
