I have a 2015 MacBook 12 inch and was wondering if I can upgrade the original 39whr battery to the newer 41whr batteries from the 2016/2017's? There are some posts that state the logic board from the 2016 fits the 2015 body with modifications.

So while they look the same, the design of this battery is very unique! Its not a straight Width - Depth - Height battery that the MacBook Pro’s have.
Here Apple did something very new! They terraced the battery into levels sculpting it to the cases curve.
So I don’t recommend trying as the cases are different between the 2015 vs the 2016/17 models.
And besides the price difference is so little is it worth messing up the system or having to still end up buying the correct battery doubling your costs?
