Had the starter replaced, now RPMs slightly jump?

2003 Chevy Silverado 4x4 5.3 V8 . I just had my starter replaced. Once I picked up the truck from the shop, waiting to pull out I noticed the RPMS were low and the needle was jumping a bit. The truck seemed to run a little more rough while idling. It never stalled but at one point acted like it was about to. I’m not the most knowledgeable with this issue and wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts as to what is causing this? Thanks!

My 1994 suburban was doing that. I replaced plugs n wires and that significantly improved this. Also, if it sat a while, run some seafoam through to help clean the fuel system.

@brandon_k thanks! It hasn’t sat due to this being my daily driver. I noticed yesterday after driving it for 10ish min that the rough idle seemed to be gone. I haven’t drove yet today but we will see. I’ll look into replacing the plugs n wires!

@newbie I definitely would. Like I said mine acted exactly like that. Almost stalled out a few times but not quite. After replacing plugs n wires, it stopped bouncing the rpms around, other than very minor fluctuations every now and then.

A starter replacement will not cause a rough idle.

But if it sat for a long time b4 you had the tarter replaced, that may have resulted in clogging of the injectors or another fuel delivery issue.
