This looks like a custom Interposer Connector Interface! Do you still have the system it was in?

tarafından

Unfortunately not. It sat in my dad's old laptop (i think it was) which is long gone...

tarafından

Sadly, it would take some doing but it might be possible to find the same series drive with a standards based connector so the controller board could be swapped out or someone could see if the connector its self can be swapped out. Either way it will be costly! And there is a risk the data is not retrievable.

As I figured.

Many thanks, though, Dan. I appreciate your effort.

Hi @drphred,

As far as I know this uses the old ATA-100 interface (aka IDE), and is in a 2.5" form factor.

Your best option is to get a USB 3.0 to IDE / SATA converter.
There are devices that support both 2.5" and 3.5" form factors, in the same device.

Once you have acquired the converter, you simply connect the drive to the converter, then plug the USB cable into a computer. This will show up as an external drive.

I mostly work with SATA / USB 3.0, but I do also have an older IDE / USB 3.0 converter (somewhere).

Tack Geir!

However, as I commented in Dan's suggestion my drive has female connectors and the only IDE converters I've been able to find alas also have female....

@drphred I take it from the Tack, that you're a neighbor (Sweden) :-)

Here is a link to a converter similar to the one I have, but it's USB 2.0, so slower transfer rates.

I have used the Norwegian site of Teknikdelar, and have great experience.

Only ever received one product (an iPhone battery) that was faulty, and they replaced it the same day as I received the bad one.

Quick shipping, great prices and it's Swedish ;-)

Det stämmer bra! :-)

Many thanks, I'll look into that site.

You need either a 3.5" drive case which has its own power supply if its a SATA drive or you can use this Universal Drive Adapter if its a IDE/PATA or SATA drive

Once connected you'll need to then connect to a system which can access the files.

Thank you Dan! However, the connectors (I've added photo) seems to female and thus a male counterpart is needed. I've only found female counterparts as in your suggestion. Phred
