Touch ID not working after logic board change, using paired sensor

Hi,

I replaced my girlfriends MacBook Air logic board and Touch ID sensor using a spare air I bought off eBay. This spare MacBook Air had a cracked screen is fully original.

I’ve moved across the logic board and everything is working fine except TouchID won’t work. I’ve moved across the sensor from the one I bought off eBay, but still no joy. Can anyone advise next steps?

Cheers

Ouch!

It's possible the original owner killed the system via iCloud FindMy services given you bought a damaged system. I'm surprised you didn't first swap out the display to checkout your purchase first.

You'll need to contact the seller.

Well I’ve freshly reinstalled the OS and everything, if it was locked it wouldn’t even let me use the system would it?

@alex - Well not really! This gets into when the system phones home to validate its status! Running the OS installer doesn't validate your system. It lets you do it without any issues. Its when you setup the user account that it connects to Apples servers to setup your iCloud account. Its at this point your system is then locked up!
