I went into hot water with my watch, after i noticed that it kept opening samsung pay (like the top button was always pressed)

Now it keeps rebooting and doesn't turn on like the power button was pressed

Anything i can do?

Can you press and hold the power button until rebooting comes up on the screen?

tarafından

It continues to appear even without pressing anything

When rebooting appears press the power button a few times, hopefully another screen will appear. Use the power button to select recovery and then hold the power button to reset the watch back to factory.

Is there any signs of condensation inside the screen or the sensors on the back by the way?

The Active watch 2 is supposed to be ‘waterproof’ to a depth of 50 metres. Also you are supposed to be able to wear it in the shower which is hot water. I wouldn’t open the watch just yet, I’d contact Samsung support and tell them their waterproof watch has water damage and ask for it to be replaced. As long as there is no damage to the screen or the back I can’t see them being able to say no. Unless you pressed one of the buttons whilst it was under water.

@strongbow There were just signs of corrosion but no condensation. Cleaning everything made the watch work again

Hi,

The impurities in the water causes corrosion and provides circuit paths for the electricity which were not in the watch's operating design and could damage the components. The corrosion starts immediately and is ongoing until it is completely cleaned away

First do not try to charge or to turn on your watch and then remove the battery as soon as possible from the watch to minimize any further damage.

Then you need to dis-assemble the rest of the watch and clean all the affected parts using Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ (available at electronics parts stores) to remove all traces of corrosion and water. If possible do not use "rubbing alcohol" as in some cases this is only 70% IPA or less, can contain additives and is not as effective. If you do have to use it check the label to verify the amount of IPA. The higher the percentage of IPA the better

Here is a link that describes the process. Electronics Water Damage

As always with electronics, especially surface mounted pcb be gentle when handling and especially when brushing away the corrosion. You do not want to remove any components from the board. Remove the shields that may be covering some components as the water may have got in under there. The ends of any flex cables and their connectors need to be cleaned as well

Hopefully after you have done all this the watch might possibly work correctly again.

Here the ifixit Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 guide that may help

If this process seems too daunting, take your watch to a reputable, professional mobile phone or electronics repair service, experienced in liquid damage repair and ask for a quote for a repair. If you decide to do this, do it sooner than later.

Thank you, this was very helpful.

When I opened the watch there were signs of corrosion like you said

I cleaned everything with isopropyl alcohol and now the watch works

I used some B-7000 to seal the watch, hope it is ok

I went for a long shower and washed my hair with my Galaxy 2 on. It started going into reboot loop and couldn't get out. I had a sealed up pack of Sushi rice and threw it into a container with a lid and stuck my watch face down inside. Within about 15min my watch went back to normal and everything was still there. I almost couldn't believe that it worked!

@claudia42069

I suggest that you back up the data on the watch, whilst it still works

You may have been lucky but it may start to fail in the next days or even weeks.

Using rice is a myth. It doesn't stop the corrosive effects of the impurities in the water damaging the components.

rice is for dinner, not repair

My Gear S3 did a similar thing when it got in the wash. I seemed to have been able to get it back to normal with the aid of CO2 computer duster used to evacuate water through the speaker holes and bezel, and then leaving it alone for 20 min until it booted up normally
