Unable to upgrade a 2015 13" MacBook Pro to Monterey

I'm getting a dialog box that I need a firmware upgrade for my 2015 MacBook Pro 13" in order to install Monterey. This appears to be because I upgraded the SSD to a 1TB Samsung EVO. What can I do to get around this? The old Apple OEM SSD is gone.

@burningrio - Can you post a snapshot of the screen with the error as I'm thinking this is an Apple firmware issue not M.2 SSD firmware but I want to be sure.

Hi Roger,

It sounds like what you need might be the firmware built into the Samsung SSD itself. I know some of the Aura SSDs required a firmware update in order to work with a MacBook, so it's not a stretch to think that yours may need one as well. Here's a link to the Samsung SSD Tools page where you should be able to download the upgrade utility for your specific SSD.

Samsung Magician & SSD Tools & Software Update

Look for your drive under the Samsung SSD Firmware dropdown.
