i am currently trying to run linux on my chromebook. i cannot do this without removing the write protected screw. i dont know where this is and i cannot find anything online. please answer.

I don't think your computer has a white protection screw. It seems the way to do it is to disconnect the battery and then boot the device. See this Reddit thread for more information.
