iPhone SE 2020 lightning port is missing pins should I replace it?

iPhone SE 2020 is missing 2pins but charging still works but some cables only work one way and the aux to lightning doesn’t work, I have a a damaged iPhone SE laying around with a working lightning port, so I’m wonder if I should swap it out? And how hard is that?

As long as it's the same model of SE, I would say that's absolutely the way to go. It's a fair bit of work to swap the assembly over, but with patience and the right tools, totally doable. Have a look at the full guide and give it a go!

Any questions please ask

Thanks:-)

how damaged is the "damaged phone with working lightning port"?

can you use that phone's back case with the lightning port flex in-tact?

generally speaking if it's a flex assembly with adhesive, i don't remove-recycle-swap because of the risk of incurring damage to the assembly during the removal. the lightning cable flex is not that expensive and can be ordered here at ifixit, injured gadgets or mobile sentrix (i would avoid ebay and aliexpress - they may have good parts, but their customer and technical support is rather lacking).

swapping is still a viable solution, but if things don't quite work right (or work badly) you've got additional troubleshooting time, and the risk of damaging other components during the disassembly and reassembly. you will have to spend the time to remove the bad flex, and the time to install a replacement, so why not just install a new one and have the piece of mind that you shouldn't have any problems with it.

my humble $0.02 worth.

Does anyone know if iFixit's iPhone 8 lightning connector assembly will work with the iPhone SE 2020? So far as I can tell iFixit does not sell an iPhone SE 2020 lightning connector assembly, and on their SE 2020 tutorial page for this issue, there's a mistake listing the iPhone 8 Loudspeaker under parts needed.
