Screen issue: fat vertical lines

Hi! i just bought this iMac 17" because i want to repair it

The thing is that the lines are too fat, so maybe not a logic board problem but a screen one?

I hope that i just should buy a new motherboard :(

What do you think? I have been looking for information on the internet, but my english level isn't as good as i want so nothing relevant found...

I would suggest you do this first before taking any further steps:

1. Plug in known tested working monitor and confirm you have video. Make sure you test the monitor on another computer and it definitely works or you might spend more than you have to.

2. Determine what to replace first:

- If you have video on an external monitor, replace the LCD screen on the unit first.

- If you do not have video on an external monitor, replace the system board.

You may have to replace both. If replacing both of these items does not fix the problem, you may have to put it back on ebay as parts along with the new LCD and system board and just recoup your losses.

OK, i knew that i must test it with a lcd monitor, but i´ll have to wait until the iMac arrives to Spain, so thats why i asked about the screen´s issue, because i could talk with the guy and trying to stop the bid, but if its just to replace the motherboard, its pretty cheap (around 45-60€) on eBay, instead of the LCD that is totally overpriced.

Thank you for your fast answer ;)

P.S. Does Apple still accept this Mac in its "Apple extension warranty"?

They´re still fixing the 2006-2007 macbook´s top cases, if I'm not wrong (at least here).

Check out the UniMac Adapter at www.realmacmods.com

This will allow you to install a non apple (less expensive) LCD panel into your iMac.
