As it turns out we have a guide to get the trackpad out and the needed parts are listed in the guide MacBook Air 2022 (M2) Trackpad Replacement if the iFixit store doesn’t have the parts you can order them directly from Apple from their self repair site Apple Self Repair
As far as testing you would need a second exact system to try yours out, which is just not practical.
The best you can do is just replace both the trackpad and the cable.
