Question on replacing the lcd digitizer

Hi, I broke the lcd screen on samsung galaxy nexus (GSM Version). I am buying the LCD Digitizer screen assembly from ebay. I have seen the instructions on disassembling the device. Is it worth attempting to replacing the screen without professional help? I like to repair things myself but don't have any experience on repairing a mobile device. From the steps posted for the disassembly, it appears as though the whole motherboard needs to be removed and assembled onto the new screen frame. I hope there won't be any soldering required as I am not doing anything with the volume rocker. But is there any special glue required to assemble it back? Are there any additional tool recommendation other than the one listed for the tear down?

I just replaced my LCD + digitizer and I can say it was really easy.

The whole thing is a module so the only thing you need to do is to remove the motherboard and move it over to the new display. There is a Little glue on the power and volume buttons so be careful when removing those because I accidentally tore of the buttons from the flex cable and need to get a replacement, which I need to solder...

Other than that it was piece of cake. The display itself is really expensive so if you're short on cash professional help will cost a bit extra.

I'm no expert and I don't either like repairing mobile devices but this was really easy, just be careful and everything will go just fine.

I apologize for responding so late. Somehow I didn't see the comment. I bought it from ebay for around $280 (from a seller in HongKong). But I wouldn't recommend it. The replacement part that I received looked original (from Samsung) but defective (probably factory seconds). The screen worked ok but had some issues with the touch screen sensitivity. So i returned it. Now that Google is selling the device directly for $400 it doesn't make sense to spend that much amount with the risk of getting a defective product. Its also quite possible that Samsung itself will be able to provide repair option now that they have the exact same model sold in the US.

I recently damaged the screen to my Verizon Galaxy Nexus, and Samsung is repairing the screen for under $170. If you go to Samsung's website, http://www.samsung.com/us/support/servic..., you can fill out a service request.

I'm usually a hardcore DIYer, but as far as I could find, this is the cheapest option.

I have a UK version of Galaxy Nexus that Samsung USA would not touch. After reading above answers I think I will get screen/digitizer and perform the repair myself (from eBay seller skystartrade, $140: http://www.ebay.com/itm/150777147102?ssP...)
