What steps have you already taken, to better provide you with a possible solution?

My 5a5g (the same thing?) died a day or two ago while I was restarting it. Or at least the screen died; I could hear it make the charging notification when it was plugged in, and my wife was able to ring me. I followed all the troubleshooting instructions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzM_Nx3R..., but unfortunately putting it in the freeze (the final step) seemed to be what finally killed it. After that no charging noise, not able to be rung. So my question is, is this worth fixing? Going through the troubleshooting steps now . . .

My Pixel 5A froze and then went black while using Facebook. It would not restart no matter what I did and I tried ALL the suggestions. Plugging it in to a charger did nothing, there was no sign it was receiving power. I also could not access phone files via a computer. After many attempts at holding the power button down (or power plus the volume down), I suddenly got the Google logo to appear, but it would just go away and the phone wouldn't boot. The appearance of the logo was totally random and would take many attempts to get it to show again. After a couple days the battery finally died to a point where when I pressed the power button I would see a flashing battery icon. Once this happened, the phone started to recognize being plugged in for charging again. After fully charging I tried to boot it again and got the Google logo but nothing more happened and I couldn't get the logo to display again. I put it back on the charger and came back a bit later and tried again, this time the phone booted but it froze once the home screen appeared. Finally, on the 3rd attempt, the phone booted and started working normally again. It was a frustrating few days and I've found no explanation of why this occurs but I've seen other posts linking it to the Facebook app.

Just wanted to to say this help me.

Device Froze For A Slipt Second, Then Turned Off..

@Pixelpusher This exact same thing seems to have just happened to me as well. I was using Facebook Messenger, hit a button and the entire screen froze then went black. The phone still vibrates when I call it or text it, which is curious. I can't tell if it is rebooting when I hold down the power button, but I don't think it is. It's clearly still alive as it responds to calls and texts, but it can't be located on Google's find my device. I'm hoping the power going out helps like in your case.

This same thing happened to me this morning. I held down the power + volume down button for a loooooong time and it finally turned on again. I am pretty sure the battery is dead - I'm here to buy a new one!

Unfortunately, Mary in CA is on to what is about the only real hope here.

Assuming you've eliminated the external factors such as the charger itself, the power outlet and the charging cable, that leaves the battery, the charging port and the charging circuit on the logic board. Most of us would have to give up on the phone if the charging circuits have failed, as those kind of repairs require specific expertise in electronics and microsoldering.

Unfortunately, Google has chosen to mount the charging port directly on the motherboard rather than using a separate daughter card, so replacement of the port is particularly difficult, especially given that it's a USB-C port. Generally that requires a hot air soldering station to replace, something most of us home DIYers don't have handy.

So as far as it being a power issue, that pretty much leaves just the battery. Since your phone doesn't support wireless charging there isn't really much you can do in the way of testing; your best bet is to just replace the battery and hope that does the trick. I hate to have to suggest it, but if a new battery doesn't fix it, you may have to resign yourself to having a professional take a look at it to figure out exactly what's wrong and what it'll take to fix it.
