Replaced inverter cable for flickering, now no backlight at all.

Hi all, On some angles my screen went dark. I searched the answers on ifixit and ordered a new inverter cable. I replaced it without any problems, but while testing I get no backlight at all now, I still see the image with a flash light from the back.

Can I have damaged anything that supplies te power for the screen? Or does this mean there was nothing wrong with the cable but with the inverter itself, or both?

It's really not fun putting in the work and money in it for nothing, I really hope you guys can help me for the next step.

I asume changing the inverter? I will try this unless some of you think it's LCD screen its self, I can't afford to waste the money.

Also, is there a way to test the inverter before buying a new one? I have a multimeter but have no idea how to use it on the inverter :d

Thank you guys!

UPDATE:

I doubded a defect inverter because the screen only went black previously under certain angles, so I reconnected my old inverter cable and moved it around --> Full Backlight --> I tried my new cables again --> black --> what means that ifixit delivered me a faulty cable..

Maybe it may be.

Have you someone there handy with a mutimeter or other instrument to measure if there's current running the new cable? I myself often delegate such works to handymen more handy than myself.

You've successfully troubleshooted your issues: the usual culprits for a dim or faulty backlight are the inverter cable, the inverter itself or the CCFL lamp inside the LCD itself. In rare occasions, but that doesn't seem to be your case, the capacitor on the logic board responsible for sending voltage up to the inverter cable.

If you're sure that the "faulty" cable works actually better than the new one (and you could be truly sure by rechecking how you connected it), you could consider writing to the seller.

thank you for the confirmation! I tested it and the new cable works if I hold the multimeter pins on it, but once connected to my macbook it doesn't do anything, so I asume that the copper parts just don't touch to the attachments of my macbook..

I've read there are two different kinds of inverter cable, one with a four-walled connector and one with a three-walled one, and some Core2Duo used the four-walled design of the older CoreDuo ones. Have you checked if the old cable is physically the same of the new one?

I have checked this, and it's the same, but I noticed that the four conductors are deeper sinked in the plastic than they are in the old cable. I'm waiting for a reply from the customer service of ifixit
