fan begins running at high speed when computer is turned on and continues running at high speed as long as the computer is on.

Try to Reset SMC by pressing Shift+ control+option and the power button hold down it for 5-7 seconds. then try to Reset PRAM by pressing option + command+ P+R hold down these 4 buttons then press the power button and keep holding those 4 buttons for atleast 3 times restart.

More info needed. Has the unit been opened to replace a part--has it been dropped or gotten wet? And could you please give us the last three digits of your serial number so we can be sure of your unit and allow us to better help you.
