Upgrading HP Pavilion 15-p Series to NVMe SSD – Feasibility and Compat

Hello iFixit Community,

I’m considering upgrading my HP Pavilion 15-p series laptop and would like to know if it’s possible to install an NVMe SSD in this model. Here are the details:

  • Model: HP Pavilion 15-p series
  • Current Configuration: 1TB HDD

Can anyone confirm if the HP Pavilion 15-p series supports NVMe SSDs, and if so, what specific steps are required for installation? Are there any compatibility issues I should be aware of, and will I need any adapters or special tools for this upgrade?

I’d appreciate any advice or experiences you can share regarding NVMe SSD installation in this model.

If you have a HP Pavilion 15-p243sa as per your previous question then you cannot install an NVME SSD in the laptop.

Looking at the maintenance and service guide for the laptop, there may be an mSATA port on the underside of the motherboard, but you cannot insert an nvme SSD into an mSata port as it will not work.

The only option you have is to upgrade the existing sata HDD with a sata SSD and if there is an mSata port on the motherboard is to install an M2.sata SSD in it.
