Miele Dishwasher unused for a year - “open stopcock”

I have just reinstalled a Miele Dishwasher (G6820 SC) which had been lying unused for a year.

Water seems to be flowing and draining out but it gives me the “open stopcock” message at the start of a cycle, and says “waterproof” after about an hour or so of trying.

It was working fine a year ago when it was unplugged. has been kept indoors in a dry secure room since then.

Any ideas?

Update on this - I managed to make it work. Needed to just wipe clean the water flow meter and its connector. The flow meter was behind the left side panel (looking from the front) of the dishwasher. Needed to remove the top and the side panel (few screws), and it became accessible.

@asaxena the “open stopcock” means that your DW does not get any water. Make sure that you have no kinked lines, that all faucets that have to be opened (depending on your plumbing) are open and that your Miele does not have a clogged water inlet filter. If all of that is okay, you may have issues with the water inlet valve. When it displays Waterproof then the waterproof system sensor detected that water has leaked into the base of the dishwasher and has activated the flood switch. Time to check the drain pump and the drain hoses. Again, make sure there is no debris in the pump housing and that there is no kink or other obstruction in the drain hose.

Thank you for this! I saw the dishwasher taking in water and draining too - so assumed it was all okay. But yes perhaps I will give it a go and check the valves etc.
