Miscellaneous Playback Problems with Tape Deck CD Player and Turntable
I am having problems regarding my Emerson NR202TT 4-in-1 Audio System. My tape deck, CD player, and turntable all have problems with playback. My tape deck stops playing tapes in the middle of the song and I have to eject and put the tape back. My CD player will start playing normally, but then will skip a few or more seconds of the track. Finally, my turntable playback sounds all fuzzy. Is there anyone who can help?

Tape players are in need of regular maintenance. The tape head itself needs cleaning as tapes deteriorate and leave behind debris on the tape heads. You can use isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab to wipe it clean. One drip on the swab and move the moistened swab across the tape head slowly a in the direction of the tape as it would move across the head. Do the process constantly until no other debris is collected on the swab. Be careful to avoid any contact on the pinch rollers as alcohol will destroy the rubber roller surface. That is critical, because without a clean surface the rollers will not be able to grip and move the tape across the head at the critical speed and/or will “eat” your tape and destroy the tape by winding and breaking (possibly) the tape. There is a liquid rubber cleaner available on eBay. Search for cassette pinch rollers cleaner for rubber rollers. Nothing else is recommended as the rollers are always hard to find.

best to use 91% isopropyl alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is 70% and contains glycerin
