Oops, sorry, looks like daughter got that one wrong, From your picture we can see that the battery model number is A2479. Searching that number up, it fits an iPhone 12 or a 12 Pro.
Now, how do we know which one it is since they both use the same battery? Let's see if we can compare a picture of an open 12 and an open 12 Pro to your picture. Here's the 12.
And the 12 Pro.
As you can see, I've marked the rear camera cover on both phones and a comparison of both of them with your phone will show that you've definitely got an iPhone 12 and not the 12 Pro.
Of course, the other way to do it is to open up the SIM tray and look along the inside upper lip where you'll find the model number. Which number you find will depend on what country you're in, but I'm betting it's a US model so I call it as A2172. Other models include: A2402 Canada/Japan, A2403 Global and A2404 China. Wouldn't hurt to verify for yourself. Here's Apple's official information on where to find it.
To find the model number on an iPhone 8 or later model that has a SIM tray, remove the SIM tray and look in the slot. Make sure that you're in a place with bright light overhead. The model number is on the upper side — the side with the display.
Now, one final note that you'll want to pay attention to.
The screen on your phone has been removed incorrectly. Instead of separating the screen's mounting frame from the phone's midframe, you've managed to get in between the OLED display and the screen frame, leaving the screen frame on the phone instead of the display. Since the earpiece speaker assembly is mounted to the screen frame, it's been left on the phone too.
The fix for this is to use a metal opening tool to get underneath the metal screen frame and pry it loose from the midframe. With the display off you can even get in from the inside of the frame to pry up on it. Go all the way around just as if you were removing the complete screen and it'll come up with the earpiece speaker assembly attached.
As to why this happened? I have a couple of theories on that subject, but the only definitive one I've seen is when someone forgets to remove the Pentalobe screws first. In that case the screen frame is NOT going to come off, so they end up separating the display from its frame. Other than that, I've had cheap aftermarket screens come off like that, presumably because they didn't use particularly good adhesive to secure the frame.
Whatever the reason, if you're planning on reusing the screen you'll want to be somewhat careful removing the frame, since without being mounted on the screen it'll be easy to bend out of shape. After that you'll need to pick up some good adhesive like B7000 to resecure the frame to the display. You didn't mention why you were removing the screen, so if you're replacing it anyway then you don't have to be quite as careful with the removal.
Okay, you didn't quite get my instructions on the money; what you gave me was the IMEI number, kind of like a serial number for an individual phone; every phone has a unique IMEI number and yours is printed on the SIM tray itself, whereas I was trying to get you to take the SIM tray out and look inside the opening, where the model number will be engraved.
That being said, however, the IMEI number does provide exact information about your phone. Using an IMEI lookup service, here's what they came back with regarding your phone.
Which confirms that it is indeed a 64GB iPhone 12, model number A2172 (ha, I called it!) in white.
So yes, whatever part it is you bought won't work and returning it is definitely the right thing to do.
When you go to reorder, order your part for an iPhone 12 and make sure it's NOT for a 12 Mini, a 12 Pro or a 12 Pro Max, because outside of the battery being shared with the 12 Pro, chances are none of the other parts will fit. If you want to be sure, verify that the part fits model A2172 and that will guarantee you've got the right part.

FYI I've moved your phone to the correct device category.

Wow. 353509871453620. Im not too bad at following instructions and when I opened up the iPhone, it did not look like the iPhone 11. The photos you shared, it looks like the 12. So, is it easily repairable? I can see if I can return the part to Amazon and maybe get the 12? How do I know when getting the right part? I sincerely appreciate you answering my question.

Im wondering.... maybe the black inner frame should have come out with the screen? Maybe it did not come out correctly since it had fallen apart prior to me ever working on it. Do I need to get a replacement for A2036 .049 or 821-02628 -05?

@thaynew Yes, that frame should have come off with the display, so no, you don't have to take the cross screws out next; just follow the instructions I gave in my answer for removing the screen frame from the midframe. Be sure to take out the pentalobe screws next to the charging port first, though.

I appreciate your help a ton! Before I proceed, if you can see the top image dated 2/21/25 there is a connector ripped. I am guessing that would need to be replaced as well. Is it worth fixing?
