Battery service recommened after replacing battery.

After my battery health is 88%, system request me to get service, i initiate the battery swap (purchased new one from ifixit). After replacing it the information still stays the same. However, coconutbattery does not indicate anything or any info. while the system does see it charging when plugged it.

Note that my brother accidentally drop water on my laptop a few weeks ago, and i did a fully cleanup with isopropyl acohol as well as all other drying steps.

One strange thing. although indication said as image above, my battery still charges and runs fine. only the indication of the battery shows missmatch. this actually affect the fan and turn on the laptop.

I just really need the indication of the battery to work.

I would check the BMC cable connection, did you loose the latch or forget to set it? Review Step 11 in this guide MacBook Pro 13" 2022 (M2) Battery Replacement. You may need to to replace the cable if it’s damaged. If you latch is missing you cab buy a new connector and swap it over. You’ll want to check both connectors.

thanks Dan, I have checked, both side of the connector are still fine. I am suspecting the BMC cable. I have ordered them. One thing i actually was incorrect is the battery only charge for like 1percent (even over night) and the next day try to discharge it. it auto shutdown after 15 min (with caffeinate terminal command line) So at this moment I am leaving it off and unplugged to discharge overnight again. and try to recharge it the day after. I will also wait for the new cable in and test others as well.

@manhnguyen15220 - I don’t think that’s going to change anything. You really don’t want to zero the battery fully. Unlike the older from 2015 back systems the USB-C based systems need a bit of power to establish the handshake with the charger. It it can’t power up the logic because the battery is too far drained you won’t be able to charge the system.

@manhnguyen15220 - Replacing the cable, if that failed then replace the battery as the BMC on the battery is bad.
