1 of the 2 SIM cards isn't detected after a drop, any advice

I dropped my phone now 1 of the 2 SIM cards isn't detected, if I swap the Sims the one in slot 1 always works. Any ideas what the issue could be or if it could likely be fixed by myself or a phone store?

If swapping the SIMs always makes slot 1 work and slot 2 never does, it’s almost certainly a slot‑2 issue, not the cards themselves. First, power off the phone, eject the tray, gently clean it and the SIM contacts, then reinsert carefully and test again. If it still fails, the drop probably damaged the tray or slot contacts, which isn’t really DIY‑friendly beyond a tray replacement.

At that point I’d take it to a repair shop and show them this thread; link here usually helps explain the symptoms better than trying to describe from memory.

I have the same problem. A guy in a repair store told me the sim reader is on a subboard, so replacing it is possilbe. Don't know how easy that is though.

Had the same thing happen to me, I dropped it at a concert and it got stomped on. I took it apart and it was simply a ribbon connector that got a little bit loose because it would work and then would stop working. There's a teardown video on it, it's not as hard as I thought it would be, just detach and reattach the ribbon connectors going to the sim tray housing. You I used a hair dryer and a razor to help pry the back off, and I used t7000 to reseal it

Yep, that happens a lot. I usually use a bit of scotch tape to hold it down in case something like that happens again.

I was able to fix it by pressing on the back panel hard. I think it's a connector that came lose. I don't know where exactly to press, I just tried all over which did it for me.

Yep, that happens a lot. Lots of ribbon connectors are really loose because they are made cheaply and for profits instead of durability.

You may need a new sim reader. It sounds like either something came loose, or something broke. I would check and see if a sim that works in slot 1 works in slot 2. If not, you will need to replace the SIM reader on the motherboard.

If you can open it up, I would try removing and reconnecting the ribbon cable (if it's not directly soldered to the motherboard) and see if that works.
