Hard drive does not match model#.

I am replacing my hard drive and the model number printed on my Macbook is A1237. The hardrive that I just pulled out of it looks like the A1304 based on these ifixit photos (bottom of page).

Are the photos mixed up? Should I order the A1304 hard drive? Also, I am having a hard time finding a good place to order. Does the brand matter? Do I need to try to match the RPM or is that taken care of by just ordering A1304?

Thanks!

The issue is the connector on the HD. You need to use the SAME type so the cable will fit and work.

Sorry I can't verify the pics for you as I don't have a unit in for repairs.

Did you have the HD replaced before? The logic bd side of the cable connector is the SAME on both HD cables so it's possible someone swapped out the HD with the cable.

As to RPM you can use a higher speed HD if you can find one that meets the physical size limits and I/O specs.

If I were you I'd take a picture or two of the HD and cable where the connection is made mated and un-mated to send to your supplier to make sure you get the correct one (unless he is able to supply a new cable with the HD he ships you).
