Background and Identification
The Dewalt Demolition Hammer D25891K - TYPE 1 is an L-type demolition hammer. The L-type designation means the main components of the hammer body do not lie in line with each other. As seen in the product picture the main body of the hammer takes a turn downwards at the metallic plate above the Dewalt logo. This is in contrast to a D-type design in which the main components of the tool lie in line with each other. The demolition hammer designation means that the tool is limited to chiseling actions only. If you needed a tool with added hammer-drilling capabilities you would need a combination hammer, and if you needed drilling also you would need a rotary hammer.
The product is yellow and black in color and says “Dewalt” on the side of it. It is also 24.4 x 16.34 x 6.69 inches in size. If your demolition hammer has these features and has a general resemblance to the above photo, check to see if your tool has the proper product identification number.
The product identification number can be found near the top of the information label that is near the speed control dial: D25891K. This can be seen in figure 4 of the attached Use and Care manual.
