Background
The Narkomed 4, manufactured by North American Drager (NAD) was introduced in 1990. This is a popular anesthesia delivery, monitor, and management system. The Narkomed 4 is equipped for quick response in the event of an emergency. The Narkomed 4's most notable improvement from previous models is the addition of the onboard computer. This model has had no notable negative attention received, and the Narkomed 4 is still in wide use. They can be bought refurbished for a reasonable price. The cart is reliable and user-friendly, which is the reason it has been such a relevant piece of equipment for so long. NAD reported over 100,000 engineering hours were invested in the design of the Narkomed 4.
Identification
The Narkomed 4 is a pale blue anesthesia cart with 2 monitors and a pull out keyboard. There are multi-colored cylinders that serve to measure functions on the patient, such as respiratory gas concentrations and respiratory volume. The "Narkomed 4" tag can be found at the top right hand corner of the uppermost monitor screen. This cart can be used to add basic information to patient charts from the operating room in addition to monitoring the administration of anesthesia during surgery.
