== Background and Identification ==

The  Draeger Fabius is an anesthesia machine used to deliver general anesthesia to patients as they undergo a medical procedure. It is a modular anesthesia machine with space for add-ons. Its major performance features include the following: high-contrast color monitor with Dräger user interface for easy and familiar operation; all major ventilation modes; new, highly maneuverable trolley with a central brake; integrated LED workplace illumination; solid, spacious design with larger drawers; industry-standard rails for additional Dräger and third party equipment; CLIC absorber compatible.  The high-performance ventilation is due to its low flow kit that reduces the condensation of water in the breathing circuit.

The Dräger Fabius is white and blue with monitor screens on the left and right stations. It rolls on four wheels. The model number is located on the front of the machine on the middle blue stripe. The approximate dimensions (W x H x D) of the machine are 40.7 x 52 x 33in (103.5 x 132 x 84cm). It weighs 296lb (134.2kg). The Fabius is larger than the other Dräger anesthesia machines. The screen display is 6.5” TFT color. The vaporizer capability is up to 3. The machine features a semi-automatic self-test and a smart pilot view.

== Technical Specifications ==

The operating time of the device is up to 120 minutes with fully charged batteries. The Standard operating modes are Manual/Spontaneous; Volume Control (VC). The Option operating modes are Pressure Control (PC); Pressure Support (PS); Synchronized Volume Controlled Ventilation with PS. The integrated safety functions have a Sensitive Oxygen Ration Controller (S-ORC) that provides a minimum O2 concentration of 23% in an O2/N2O mixture. N2O cut-off if O2 fresh gas valve is closed or if O2 flow is less than 0.2 L/min. Audible and visual (flashing red LED) indication in case O2 pressure drops below 20 psi (1.38 bar) ± 4 psi (0.27 bar). In case of electricity and battery failure, manual ventilation, gas delivery, and agent delivery are possible. The positive pressure relief valve opens at 75 ±5 cmH2O. The negative pressure relief valve opens at –7.5 to –9 cmH2O. The volume of the CO2 absorber is 1.5 Liter reusable canister. The volume of the entire compact breathing system is 1.7 Liter plus bag. The power supply of the Dräger Fabius is 100-240 VAC, 50.60 HZ, 70 VA, 2.3 A max.  The gases the machine uses are O2, air, and N2O.
