Model
TE76-ATC
Background
The Hilti Hammer Drill TE76-ATC (2005) is a power tool produced by the company Hilti. While the TE76 model is no longer being manufactured, Hilti currently sells a newer model, the UH 700 Hammer drill. Similar products include the Hilti Cordless hammer drill driver and the Hilti Cordless rotary hammer. Hilti also sells drill bits and replacement parts for these devices.
The Hilti Hammer Drill combines the rapid rotary action of a drill with a powerful hammering mechanism. This unique combination allows the device to pulverize only a small area of a hard material such as concrete, stone, brick, or masonry. In other words, only the section you are drilling through will be affected; the rest of the material will not be damaged. Due to their power and precision, hammer drills are commonly used for both renovation and demolition.
However, the Hilti Hammer Drill TE76-ATC can also be used to chisel into different materials, depending on what kind of chisel or drill bit you attach. For example, hammer drill bits, breach bits, and percussion core bits are used when drilling into stone and concrete. Drill bits with hex or smooth shanks should be used with materials like wood or metal. The Hilti Hammer Drill can also be used to mix nonflammable materials, such as grout.
The TE76-ATC is grounded, as it falls into the electrical protection class I. The device is equipped with a pivoting side handle, a servicing indicator light, a mechanical torque-limiting clutch, and a lockable control switch. The selector switch allows the user to choose either half power or full power. The device has 2 modes, drilling and chiseling. According to Holmes Rental and Sales Inc., this tool has infinite variable speed with electronic regulation that does not depend on load. When operating the hammer drill, the user should utilize the grip and side handle, stabilizing the device with both hands.
Identification
The Hilti Hammer Drill TE76-ATC (2005) is gun-shaped, with one handle grip near the drill head and one that curves to the side. The device body is orange, while the head/handles/other accessories are black. The brand name and model are printed in white on the side of the tool's body.
