The Motorola California Mobile Phone was released in 1989 and is identified by model number F09HLD8415AG. Specifically, the California Mobile belongs to the Digital Personal Communicator (DPC) series that intended to provide a cheaper alternative to the 9800X series. However in 1989, when cell phones were a very new technology, this phone still totaled $2500. It does not support modern networks.

• The device should read "California Mobile Phone" on the outer side of the keypad guard.

• Upon removing the battery, there may be a small white sticker that displays the device model number "F09HLD8415AG."
