The Ryobi Pole-saw (P4360) is a battery-operated power trimmer. This pole saw is designed to enable trimming limbs and branches that are at a high distance. The design allows the pole to be adjusted between 8 to 9.5 feet at the maximum length and has an angular cutting head. The tool is light and weighs only 8 pounds.
Since this device is the 2012 model you can expect there have been some issues that customers have had. The latest reviews have 4.7 stars on the manufacturer's website. Though customer satisfaction is fairly high, there is one issue that keeps coming up in the reviews. Many customers have reported oil leaking from the chain of the tool. By using this pole saw repeatedly, chain oil depletion is inevitable but leakage shouldn't happen. One common reason for chain oil leakage is the position in which the pole saw is stored. This can be remedied by making sure the tool is stable and level upon storing. A second reason would be too much chain oil in the device - to correct this, make sure you put approximately 2.0 oz of oil with each refill. Using this amount will ensure a safe and steady input of oil and reduce leakage.
Note: When shipped from the manufacturer, oil is not included so be sure not to turn on the tool without oil. It is suggested that the oil level should be checked after every 20 minutes of use. Purchasing this product from the manufacturer comes with an additional 3yr warranty.
The chain used is an 8 in. 0.043 Gauge Chainsaw Chain, 33 Link. Replacements can be found on the official Ryobi website.

The Ryobi P4360 is identified by its trademark green color followed by the “Ryobi” label on the face of the saw. The handle is green along with black grips on the compartment for the battery pack at the end of the tool. There are many caution stickers on the device. The main two are the Volt symbol, describing the voltage, and direct current, informing the user of the type of current connection. The model number is located on the black label placed directly on the pole saw.
The battery comes with a charger that has LED red and green indicator lights.
- Blinking red is too hot or cold and will not charge
- Red and green lights blinking at the same time means the battery is defective
- A blinking green light means the battery is charging
- A solid green light means the battery is completely charged
