The Iriver Clix is notable for its relatively small size and awkwardly sized screen bezel, both features that derive from iriver's 'D-Click System', hiding the navigation beneath the screen to mimic touch based controls. The surrounding sides have all the usual Media Player controls, and the backside has the branding, alongside the storage capacity, on the battery cover.

The Clix was originally sold at a higher retail price, when it was the U10 in June of 2005. While it's similar to its successor, it was lacking in performance and user interface, plus a lower flash storage capacity as low as 512MB.

When the Clix came around, Iriver collaborated with Microsoft and MTV to have it work with WMP 11(which was in beta then) and Urge, a music library like iTunes, respectively. The Clix was also PlaysForSure certified by Microsoft the same year of its release.

Clix-built accessories include an armband case, and a versatile charging dock. The dock had several convenient features, such as Mini USB support, built-in stereo speakers, line in/out ports, an IR receiver with remote control, and a snooze button that compliments the Clix's alarm feature.

The Clix also has an FM transmitter that connects it to your car via the DC port, where it can access the full FM spectrum, play through your car stereo, and be charged while you drive.
